Class 9 - Miss Bebb - Year 6

Spring Term

Welcome back! I hope you had a fantastic summer. The final year of Maesglas Primary School will be quite challenging but fun, we have lots of exciting activities planned and some fabulous educational trips to develop our learning further. As part of our transition to high school we will also complete a variety of activities to begin this process.

This term we will be studying 'Fire and Ice' and as such lots of our learning will be cross curricular.

Over the course of this term we will be developing our skills of report writing, newspaper writing and persuasive writing. We are starting by writing a report about Hurricane Irma, a topic the children found very interesting and wanted to learn more about.

We will be starting the term focusing on number and data skills. We will be working hard on place value, multiplication and division, addition and rounding and have lots of opportunities to develop our reasoning and problem solving skills. To help with our scientific experiments we will be revising creating and interpreting bar and line graphs.

During this term we will be embarking on an exciting science project which will see some fun experiments being undertaken to support our scientific development. We will be lucky enough to have a few visits from a microbiologist who will set us challenges and also visit Cardiff University to have a look around their science labs.

Homework will be set on a Friday, this will be on MyMaths so please make sure your child knows their log on and has access to complete it, we need to make sure we are in a routine ready for high school.

We have P.E lessons twice a week. Monday is our indoor games lesson and Thursday is our outdoor lesson. Children will need a white t-shirt and black shorts/joggers plus appropriate outdoor footwear. Please ensure that kit is in school labelled correctly with names.

I am always here to help so please don’t hesitate to ask if you have some queries.

Thank you for your support

Kind Regards

Miss Bebb & Miss Pettican
