Headteacher's Welcome

On behalf of the staff, pupils and  governors I am very pleased to welcome you to our school website.

This website has been produced to provide essential information about the school for parents, prospective parents and interested friends.

We try to ensure that our pupils are given excellent and varied opportunities to excel and to providing a caring environment for learning. At Maesglas, all staff and governors work hard to create an ethos of mutual respect, tolerance and equality. We hope that in this way we can all begin to learn and grow together, and that you and your children's association with the school will be a long and very happy one. Our pupils' diversity is celebrated and our PDG spend can be found here.

Finally, children are celebrated at Maesglas and sharing our pupils’ successes on this site is a key element. All children are encouraged to contribute their views and ideas to our website and the site is much more interesting as a result of their hard work.

We are very proud of Maesglas Primary School and are thrilled to have achieved nationally recognised awards in Nurturing, Basic Skills, Eco-Schools.

We believe that the school is at the heart of the community, a happy, purposeful and successful place - a place where children are encouraged to work hard and give of their best for themselves and each other. The Governing Body plays a full and active part supporting both children and staff in all aspects of school life.

We meet regularly and sit on a range of committees which make decisions on important aspects of school life including curriculum, staffing and finance.

Maesglas attaches a great importance to the links between home and school and welcomes visits from parents before and during your child's time with us. We value greatly the regular contact with parents, working together will be of the greatest benefit for your child's school life.

I am always happy to meet with parents and welcome helpful suggestions to take our school forward. I hope you find this website gives you even more insight into the life of your school.
