This Term...

This term our topic is 'To Infinity and Beyond'. We will be exploring space and learning lots of fun facts about planets and space travel.

In Maths we will be continue to practise our counting, addition and subtraction and problem solving including the use of money. We will also be learning about doubles and halves within 10 and learning about 2D and 3D shapes. It would be very helpful if you could help your child practise their maths at home. You can also find maths games and activities on www.topmarks.co.uk to play with your child.

In Literacy we will be doing lots of different types of writing linked to our new topic 'To Infinity and Beyond'.  We will be writing stories, letters, facts and much more! You can help develop this further at home by encouraging your child to write shopping lists, birthday cards and messages all of which will have a huge positive impact on their learning. Thank you!

P.E sessions are on Wednesday. The children will continue to extend their skills in gymnastics, games, athletics and dance during this term. Please can children bring in a PE kit which can be left on their peg. Please can you also make sure that all of the school clothes have their name in to avoid any lost clothes - Thank you! Just a quick reminder that jewellery should not be worn in school for safety reasons!

Outside play - The children will have access to outside play for most of their sessions so it is important that they bring coats every day. Please put their names in their coats so there are no mix ups. Thanks!

Home Learning

Thank you for all the fantastic Home Learning we have seen from last term! Home Learning will continue to be given weekly on a Friday. Please could all home learning be returned to school by Wednesday ready to go back out on Friday. Please continue to work with your child on their home learning tasks to help consolidate learning which is done in school.

Reading

Reading is so important for the children’s development with their language, imagination and writing. Thank you for all the great reading you have done over the last term! We will continue to provide your child  with 2 reading books a week and these will be changed every Friday. Please if you could tick or sign or write a small comment when they have read with you so we know to send home a different book. Thank you!

Water Bottles and Snack

We try to encourage the children to drink plenty during the school day and although we do provide some drinking cups it leads to a greater independence and confidence if the children can take control of their own water. Please can the children bring a named water bottle to school. Children can also bring in a healthy snack to have at break time if they wish.

Thank you for taking the time to read this information.  We look forward to working with you, to create a happy and fun environment where your child will continue to develop and grow. Any questions then please just pop in and see us.
