Criw Cymraeg

About Us
There are two members of 'Criw Cymraeg' in each year group. These children are selected to ensure that there is lots of Welsh happening in their class, encourage their peers to use Welsh and monitor the 'Ddraig Fynci' points for their class. The children worked really hard to earn us the 'Cymraeg Campus Bronze Award' in the Summer Term of 2019. Llongyfarchiadau! We are now striving for the Silver Award - pob lwc!

Ddraig Ffynci
Each class collects 'Ddraig Ffynci' tokens. These are awarded in Foundation Phase when pupils use incidental Welsh during the school day and during other lessons. In Key Stage 2, Criw Cymraeg collect points for asking particular questions they have been learning that week in their class and for the Phrase of the Week. 'Criw Cymraeg' help to collect lots of points for their class. The class with the most points at the end of the week wins. The winners are now announced virtually in our Teams assembly.

Seren yr Wythnos
Each week 'Criw Cymraeg' choose one child from each class to be awarded the 'Seren yr Wythnos' certificates in assembly. These are pupils who we have seen speaking lots of Welsh around the school that week!

Yard games
We have been playing games on the yard to promote Welsh outdoors such as 'Beth mae'n amser Mr Blaidd?' and 'Ga i groesi'r afon?' Our Key Stage 2 Criw Cymraeg members love to demonstrate the games and get our Foundation Phase pupils involved!

Ymadrodd yr wythnos/Phrase of the Week
Each week Criw Cymraeg film video clips for our Maesglas twitter page to demonstrate the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 phrases of the week. We love to hear children, staff and parents using the phrase of the week!

Family Engagement
On 2nd March 'Criw Cymraeg' presented to their families all about their role. Parents were invited to enjoy a coffee, Welsh cake and complete some Welsh activities with us. Diolch yn fawr iawn - thank you for coming!

Welsh Home Learning
If you would like to extend your Welsh at home, there is a free app called Duolingo which allows you to practise Welsh daily to increase confidence! You can also download lots of Welsh apps e.g. Magi Ann, Cyw etc which can be accessed on a phone or tablet. There are lots of useful Welsh home learning resources on 'Hwb' too!

Cymraeg Campus Silver Award/Gwobr Arian
Criw Cymraeg were so proud to have achieved the 'Cymraeg Campus' Bronze Award/Gwobr Efydd! We are now working to achieve the Silver Award/Gwobr Arian.
