We have a range of exciting activities planned for this term. We are looking forward to the Project launch on Monday 20th September, where we will reveal what our project for the Autumn term is.

In Maths, we will be working on basic skills , they are the foundation blocks of good mathematicians- Counting, multiplying, dividing, tables, adding and subtracting and ensuring a good understanding of place value. We will also be learning to multiply by 10 and 100 and also learning how to create and interpret bar and line graphs.

In Literacy, we will be reading a range of texts, focusing on developing a range of language and reading skills to ensure a good understanding of texts. We will be encouraging the children to read at home regularly and rewarding them with Dojos every time they read. The children will be writing for a wide range of genres, including instructions, report writing, narrative, and a poem, using a text as a 'hook'.

For Science, we will be learning about bugs and bacteria - fun experiments using the data collected to write a conclusion.

Our parent handbook for Rowan Class can be found here

If you are not yet doing so, we would recommend you follow us on Twitter (@MaesglasPrimary). Throughout the week children’s learning is celebrated through Twitter using the #RowanMPS hash tag. We also use a text service to let you know important information, so please make sure we have your number.

We want all our pupils to look as smart as possible so please remember that school uniform must be worn at all times:

White Shirt and Tie (Autumn and Spring Terms)

Green V-neck Sweatshirt or Cardigan

Navy Blue Trousers / Skirt / Dress / Navy Tights

Blue and White Gingham Dress / Grey Shorts (optional for Summer Term)

Black Shoes not trainers

We thank you for your continued support in ensuring the children look so smart!

Our PE day is Thursday and currently we would like pupils to come to school on those days dressed in PE kit.

PE Kit Indoor: Black Shorts / White Round-Neck T-shirt

PE Kit Outdoor: Navy Hooded Sweatshirt / Black or Navy Jogging Bottoms / Trainers

Home Learning will be given out every Friday and must be returned by the following Wednesday. Please ensure the children maintain the high standards of presentation and layout that they produce in class. Home Learning can be found on Microsoft Teams.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate in contacting myself via the school office. Many thanks,

Mrs Smith
