Family Engagement
At Maesglas Primary School we pride ourselves on our relationships with our community.
Read on to see how you can join the Newport Parents Network.
Good morning
Historically, the Newport Parent Network as worked extremely well at engaging with families with children with disabilities. A number of the support groups established were related to additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome. Over the last year we have been concentrating more on widening our engagement to try and gain representation of all families living in Newport.
We have established some additional support groups which, whilst currently low on numbers, will hopefully, begin to grow in time, including a Families Affected By Imprisonment Group and a Young Parents Group and we have ideas for a number of other groups that we plan to start working on from September onwards.
However, the main role of the Newport Parent Network is to provide parents with a voice. This means finding opportunities for parents to be consulted with on any decisions being made that effect the life of families living in Newport. This includes an ongoing consultation on School Exclusions which we plan to repeat once a term and currently we are seeking to gather as many views as possible to feed into Newport’s Wellbeing Plan which will influence all major decisions being made on service delivery and development both in the short and long term.
In order to ensure we have representation of all families living in Newport we need to increase our membership. Membership to the Newport Parent Network is free and all parents (who provide an email address) can access information on support services, activities, local events, parenting courses and opportunities to be consulted with through our monthly newsletter.
To increase our membership we are asking that you share the following link with as many families as possible. This will take them to an online joining form. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/NXKW6QZ
Alternatively, I can email a printable form to you on request or families can contact me personally.
I am also happy to come and talk to parents at any events/groups you run in order to explain more and can bring forms and further information with me.
Thank you for your continued support
Kind regards
